From mboxrd@z Thu Jan 1 00:00:00 1970 From: Ian Lance Taylor To: bfd@cygnus.com, gas2@cygnus.com Subject: binutils snapshots are back Date: Fri, 08 May 1998 09:49:00 -0000 Message-id: <199805081649.MAA20633@subrogation.cygnus.com> X-SW-Source: 1998/msg00051.html I'm pleased to report that the daily binutils snapshots appear to be back on line on ftp.cygnus.com in private/gas. The snapshot machine died, followed by the usual series of problems and confusions getting everything back in working order. There is a significant change since the last snapshot. Tom Tromey, with some help from Nick Clifton, has converted the binutils sources to use gettext style internationalization for all messages. This means that it will now be possible for people to write translations for these messages, which basically means that it will now be possible for the binutils to start reporting error messages in the user's native language. I'm not very up on this translation stuff myself. If you're interested in looking into it, you should probably start by picking up the gettext package, available via FTP from alpha.gnu.org. Also worth mentioning is that I've written some BFD internals documentation in bfd/doc/bfdint.texi. It's intended to help people who want to hack on BFD. I would be happy to receive any feedback on this document. Ian
