I will work on it. I will start with "-z nodelete" for  DF_1_NODELETE
first. We can add more DT_FLAGS_1 later.

Parsing a string inside BFD seems very weird to me.  The linker should
handle parsing, and should tell BFD what to do.

gcc will sometimes pass -z text to the Solaris linker.  I believe that
this patch will cause the linker to produce a fatal error when that
happens.  Without this patch, the -z option will be ignored.

Are these -z options compatible with existing Solaris options?  That
is, has Solaris added these to the set of -z options?  Or are you
making them up?  If the latter, how does the Solaris linker decide
when to set these flag bits.

You need to add documentation to ld.texinfo for these new options.  I
personally have no idea what they mean.

I include "elf/common.h" in elf32.em. Is that ok?

I will ignore the unrecognized the -z options.

I looked up the ld man page on Solaris 2.7. I believe my interpretation
is correct. I only kept the options which say "marks the object" in
the mag page.

Can you send me the man page for `-z interpose'? It is not in Solaris
2.7. I don't even know what it does. Or you can provide a patch later
after I check mine in.

Neither is it in the Solaris 2.6 man page.  So it must be a Solaris 8
feature :-).  I read about it in the Solaris 8 "Linker and Libraries
Guide" which you can browse at:

You can also download a PDF version.  It's interesting literature if
you're working on the (dynamic/static) linker.

   Here is the new patch.

Looks fine to me.  Get Nick to approve it, I guess.  The manual
