The stub size in GO32 executables has historically been fixed at 2048
bytes, due to hardcoded limitations in bfd. Recent patches to djgpp by
Stas Sergeev (CC'd) have pushed the stub right up to this limit, so if
any further expansion is desired, this must first be patched in bfd.

This series includes three patches: The first changes the meaning of
the bfd->origin field slightly, so that target code can use this to
specify an offset into the file where the actual bfd is located.
The second patch then uses this to enable support for variable-sized
stubs in the coff-go32-exe format.
The final patch is only a cleanup, it normalizes function and variable
names in coff-stgo32.c so that they all begin with the same prefix.

The comment preceding the 'origin' field in struct bfd mentions that:

/* Currently my_archive is tested before adding origin to
anything. I believe that this can become always an add of
origin, with origin set to 0 for non archive files. */

This patch implements that change. Since the origin is always zero for
bfds not contained in an archive, this currently has no effect.

The following patch removes the hardcoded stub size limit for the
coff-go32-exe format, by reading the size from the stub's own header,
and setting bfd->origin to the beginning of the COFF image. This is
safe since a GO32 executable should never appear in an archive.

The special pointer adjustment code using COFF_ADJUST_* is removed, so
now coff-go32-exe images are handled just like regular x86 COFF images.
If the stub is removed, the output will be identical to coff-go32.

The stub is read in go32_check_format, which sets bfd->origin to the
COFF header location. A cleanup function is returned which resets the
origin before checking other formats.
On output, the stub is first written in go32exe_write_object_contents,
which is the new write_contents hook for this format. With bfd->origin
set, writing then proceeds as usual, with the file offset automatically
taken into account.

All the COFF_ADJUST_{FILEHDR,SCHHDR,AUX}_{IN,OUT}_{PRE,POST} hooks in
coffswap.h can probably be removed now, since they don't appear to be
used by other formats.

Hi Nick, thanks for your response.

Will this assignment also cover future submissions to GNU? I have a
patch submitted to gcc for which I have yet to sign any copyright
papers. I also intend to submit more patches to binutils soon, which
have been included with the djgpp release for a long time, but have yet
to be upstreamed here.

They typically do, and you may list more than one project at a time in
your application (i.e. list binutils and gcc).

The assignment form specifically states that "it will not cover other
unrelated future changes to the same program". I think it would be
convenient if this and the upcoming patches could be covered by one
signature. If that complicates things a lot or if it's not possible
for some other reason, then I'll fill in this form for just the gcc and
binutils patches I've already submitted.

I'd like to make a small addition to this patch set:
When copying the stub from one bfd to another, there is no need to
reallocate if the destination already has a stub that is the same size
as the source. This will practically always be the case.

Patch series approved and applied. (Including part 4 of 3...)

Cheers
