Hi,
Yes, I have created a different folder for build and building the binutils from this build folder, I am able to build binutils-2.15 but in case of binutils-050120 I am getting the error mentioned below.

I hope you are not doing configure inside the src directory
here is how I would do it.

make a obj-binutils folder parallel to binutils src
cd obj-binutils
../src/configure <your options>
make 

you should call configure which is in src folder and not one in
src/binutils
