Hi. I'm new here.
I only recently updated my binutils to 2.10, and since then I've been
experiencing errors. I assumed that it was due to the updated linker, so
I recompiled most of my programs. The error was still there (for
instance, I could compile GCC 2.95.2, but a 'make install' failed). As a
last resort I tried re-installing binutils 2.9 from RPM, but the error
did not go away.
This is the error message it leaves:

BUG IN DYNAMIC LINKER ld.so: dynamic-link.h: 57: elf_get_dynamic_info:
Assertion `! "bad dynamic tag"' failed!

Thanks.

Grin. It shows. No info on system details like operating system and
cpu. :-) I'm guessing linux and x86.

This is an error from the dynamic linker, part of glibc. Have you by
any chance recompiled and installed glibc? You might need to re-install a
precompiled version from a distribution cd-rom.

If this error shows up it means the binary is corrupted. It is no
actual bug in ld.so.
