Hello,
Following the advice of one expert I'm currently looking into using Linaro Toolchains but since all of this is new to me, it's taking some time.
In the meantime, I would really like to know if a solution was presented in response to the post made by winstonian36@gmail.com as given above and as the subject of this email?

Hi David. What target are you trying to build for? If it's ARM then
you might want to try our crosstool-NG based pre-built toolchains at:
https://launchpad.net/linaro-toolchain-binaries
The source is included so you can always tweak if need be.
