Message-ID: <20050221160102.GA16893@cygbert.vinschen.de> (raw)
I've just updated the version of OpenSSH to 3.9p1-3.
This is a Cygwin specific bugfix release.
- When sshd tries to switch over temporarily to the uid just logging in,
to perform some action under this uid, then temporary switching the uid
fails on Cygwin in OpenSSH 3.9p1.
One of the results is that a forwarded agent socket and its parent
directory is created with the uid of the account sshd is running under,
instead of the account which just tries to log in.
That's fixed in this release.
NOTE NOTE NOTE:
If you're still using Cygwin 1.5.10 or earlier, you *must* add the -r
option when starting the sshd daemon, if you want to use privilege
separation. Either that, or disable privilege separation in
/etc/sshd_config by setting
UsePrivilegeSeparation no
This does not happen when running under Cygwin 1.5.11 or later.
To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your
system. Then, run setup and answer all of the questions.
