No more waiting for my wife to come home to turn on the system so that I can check out a cygwin problem. Maybe everyone already knows about this but it was new to me. I had to install the "wakeonlan" (or "wol") software on linux, enable "power on from s5 by PME" in the bios, and tweak some of the obvious settings for the network adapter (most notably the power management settings) under the device manager. Now, issuing a "wakeon lan xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" turns on the system. Pretty cool. I thought I'd spread the word in case I'm not the only person who has been interested in getting this working. You'll probably need a fairly new motherboard for this. I think mine is a couple of years old. Thanks to Larry Hall for helping me get this set up. cgf
