Hmm, I wonder if that was the same thing that happened to Andrew Stubbs on
binutils list the other day? Sounds quite similar, and again we assumed the
problem was at the sending rather than receiving end.

Sorry. It really was the case. spamassassin was taking so long to
process messages that it caused some connections to time out. But,
sourceware didn't detect this and delivered the message anyway. Then
the original sender reconnected to try again and hilarity ensued.

I made a few changes to sourceware's smtp handler to deal with the
problem. It still isn't remarkably speedy but it shouldn't have this
problem again.

It looks to me like the OP only posted once (they all have the same UIDL, or
rather there were two unique UIDLs and two unique posts each duplicated many
times), but that sourceware.org received it multiple times.

I notice that there didn't seem to be any message-id in the original
incoming messages.

Perhaps there's a loophole where sourceware returns a
temporary-fail-please-retry-later, but accepts the incoming message anyway,
and fails to spot it's a dup because of the lack of a message id.

You may have to regurgitate that sip. The duplicate messages really seemed
to be caused by a problem on sourceware. How embarrassing.
