My coinage: malingering: mal- (something bad) + lingering (something hanging around) Dictionary: malingering: to pretend illness, especially in order to shirk one's duty, avoid work, etc. Moral of this story: When coining a new word, make sure it doesn't already exist with another meaning. Sheesh.

You can always coin a new meaning to an existing word. It's how
language evolves.
