DESCRIPTION: ============ This package contains scripts for starting the X Server, including startxwin.bat, startxwin.sh, startxdmcp.bat, and startx. This package replaces the XFree86-startup-scripts package, which was hand generated from files only present on my system. In addition, this package now contains the 'startx' and 'xinitrc' files that were previously distributed in the XFree86-bin and XFree86-etc packages, respectively, as well as source code for the 'run' utility that is distributed with this package. This package is complete with source code and a package build script. The intention of this is to remove the dependence upon myself and my computer for this package. Now anyone with an interest in this package can modify it and submit patches and/or request to takeover maintainership. Note that the 'startx' and 'xinitrc' files have been modified to make them start the server in the same manner as 'startxwin.bat'. Additionally, "-clipboard" is now being passed to XWin.exe by default. -- Harold Hunt To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on the http://cygwin.com/ web page. This downloads setup.exe to your system. Once you've downloaded setup.exe, run it, select "XFree86" and then click on the appropriate field until the above announced version number appears if it is not displayed already. If your mirror doesn't yet have the latest version of this package after 24 hours, you can either continue to wait for that site to be updated or you can try to find another mirror. Please send questions or comments to the Cygwin/X mailing list at: cygwin-xfree@cygwin.com If you want to subscribe go to: http://cygwin.com/lists.html I would appreciate if you would use this mailing list rather than emailing me directly. This includes ideas and comments about the setup utility or Cygwin/X in general. If you want to make a point or ask a question the Cygwin/X mailing list is the appropriate place.
