Subject: [1.7] Updated: xorg-server-1.6.0 and more
Date: Thu, 25 Jun 2009 01:30:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <4A42C4A0.4090401@users.sourceforge.net> (raw)

I have updated the Cygwin/X xorg-server to 1.6.0 for Cygwin 1.7.

Please note the major upstream changes in this version:

* XEvIE extension support has been removed. Therefore, libXevie and
libxcb-xevie are deprecated and will soon be removed.

* In windowed (desktop) mode, -br (black background with mouse cursor
hidden until XDefineCursor() is first called) is now the default. The
old behaviour can be obtained with the -retro flag.

The following new patches have been applied to this release:

* added Hebrew keyboard layout detection.

* added more clipboard debugging messages.

* fixed numeric keypad input.

* reverted upstream clipboard change that wreaked havoc with other
applications monitoring the clipboard (e.g. MS Office Clipboard, VNC).

Together with a new release comes updates to some X.Org libraries:

inputproto 1.5.1
libxcb 1.2
libICE 1.0.5
libX11 1.2
libXext 1.0.5
libXfont 1.4.0
libXi 1.2.1
libXrandr 1.3.0
pixman 0.14.0
xcb-proto 1.4
xcb-util 0.3.4
xextproto 7.0.5
xtrans 1.2.3
randrproto 1.3.0

The newest versions of libX11 and libxcb are required for
xorg-server-1.6.0, and they must both be updated to 1.2 simultaneously.

All other X.Org libraries, save those just deprecated, have been rebuilt
for Cygwin 1.7 with gcc-4.3.
