GNOME 2.26 adds many new APIs and features, particularly to Glib and GTK+, and deprecates others, while maintaining API compatibility with earlier 2.x releases. GNOME 2.26 can be installed in parallel with the GNOME 1.4 libraries and the future GNOME 3 libraries. Packages have been completely reorganized for consistency; upgrading should be automatic.
