This is pretty strange. Assuming this isn't a bug ([1] looks a bit old to be relevant), I can only suggest that this may be an issue with colour correction if you have that enabled for KDE. It would help in trying to reproduce this problem to know the specific version of Ubuntu that your remote X clients are from.
