Hi Jon,

Thank you for your response. Previously I had verified the problem against remote clients from Kubuntu 12.04 and FreeBSD 9.1 after installing the kde4 port. I wanted to confirm the problem one last time before sending this email, and, to my chagrin, I cannot repeat it. I've tested on several different machines and the appearance is normal. Maybe a reboot did the trick?

If I see the issue again I will work on a recreation recipe, given the intermittent nature.

This is pretty strange.

Assuming this isn't a bug ([1] looks a bit old to be relevant), I can only suggest that this may be an issue with colour correction if you have that enabled for KDE.

It would help in trying to reproduce this problem to know the specific version of Ubuntu that your remote X clients are from.
