Hi,
sending an empty emai to unsubscribe-cygwin@cygwin.com or
unsubscribe-cygwin@sources.redhat.com does not work for me. What do I
wrong?
regards
Martin

Hello from Gregg C Levine
When I decided to leave the list, earlier, I went to the same place that
I subscribed to it. That is the website, and did it that way. Whose mail
program are you using? Some mailers do not understand the messages that
this list uses for management.

I doubt this will do much good since you didn't read the responses to
the last person who sent such a request to the list, but if you visit
(http://cygwin.com/ml/#unsubscribe-simple) and follow the instructions
given there you should be able to unsubscribe from this list.
The same URL is at the bottom of every message sent through the list,
including your request.
If the instructions in "1. Unsubscribing, simple" are not sufficient,
look at the sections in the web page immediately below there for
successively more difficult situations.
Addresses for help and unsubscribing are also in the headers of every
message sent through the list.
If none of that is sufficient, email your problem to
cygwin-owner@sources.redhat.com as mentioned under "4. Unsubscribing,
I'm desperate". Sending it to this list just annoys everyone else and
doesn't get you out of the list.
There is also a webform available at http://cygwin.com/ml/#faqs if you
want unsubscribe that way.

Hmmm...
Is this world losing the battle on the bad idea that is "Reply-To:"?
And what does that have to do with unsubscribing?
How to get off the list? Follow the damn instructions. They're appended to
the body of each message sent via this list.
The fault lies not in the mailing list, but in our unwillingness to pay
attention to information clearly at hand.

try reading the footer appended to mails on this "badly-impelemented mailing
list" :)

How do I unsubscribe from this list?
It's a badly-impelemented mailing list, put together by someone who
never heard
of a "Reply-to" header-field.
How do I get out of this list?

I just checked to see what your problem is. Apparently, you sent email
to "foobaz-unsubscribe@sources.redhat.com".
Are you under the impression that this is the "foobaz" mailing list?
Please go back and read the instructions thoroughly.
There are four separate help items at the URL listed at the end of this
message. One of them will surely lead you to unsubscribing. You have
to actually read and comprehend them, though.

Are you sure that the address you're trying to unsubscribe is the same
as the one you used to subscribe? What does the mailbot tell you when
you attempt to unsubscribe?
