question regarding the c compiler

question regarding the c compiler

We are trying to download the c compiler and use it
with the xess boards. We are haveing a lot of problems
with it because our platform is windows. 
I was wondering if there is a special step that we
have to take or some kind of help as to how to install
and run it.
I would appreciate it if you can help me with this.

Just download the setup.exe from the cygwin /latest mirror sites and run it with access to an internet connection.  At least, that's
the way it's meant to work.  Works best on W2K.  If you want gcc without cygwin, look for mingw32.  Admittedly, they think we're
strange trying to run gcc on windows here in So CA.
