Hello Cygwin -

The version of bison available from cygwin is 3.0.4-1. It does not handle more than 65,536 states. I am working with a YACC file having over 69,000 states. The latest version of Bison is 3.5.3, which handles YACC files with many more than 69,000 states. I use an earlier 3.5.x version on my linux system at NIST and it handles my YACC file. I want to be able to use bison on cygwin on my home Windows computer to deal with this file.
Please update the version of bison on cygwin to 3.5.x (where x is 1, 2, or 3). Thank you.
Tom KramerTomRKramer@aol.com(at work kramer@nist.gov, but NIST is shut down and I do not have access to NIST email)

This is yet another occurance of the line-ending problem in
Cygwin-1.1.1. ( \15 is ^M ). The problem is being worked on and will
lead to a new Cygwin release very soon.

Your \15 is a carriage-return - you have the much talked about <CR><LF>
line ending problem. Check the archives.

Bonjour,

Sin I have updated to Cygwin 1.1.1
I have some touble with bison:
I cannot bison a file that I could before the update.
the firt error message is:
error: unknown character: \15

and I guess that the other errors are implied by this error.

Otherwise, Gygnus is great !

I've recently downloaded bison(version 1.25) from
ftp://prep.ai.mit.edu/pub/gnu

and built it "straight-out-of-the-box" with b18 on NT4.0.

The only problem I had was that bison bombs out if there is
no c:\tmp directory.
