That explains it. Cygwin does not install nano by default.
Fire up your setup.exe and install it, that will fix your issue.
As for the future, I suggest to patch your ~/.profile and exclude
unnecessary/conflicting directories from $PATH.
Something along the lines of

PATH="$(tr ":" "\\n" <<<"$PATH" | grep -v /Windows/ | tr "\\n" ":")" export PATH
