Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the
cygwin@sourceware.cygnus.com mailing list.

This is a generic help message. The message I received wasn't sent to
any of my command addresses.

--- Administrative commands for the cygwin list ---

I can handle administrative requests automatically. Please
DO NOT SEND THEM TO THE LIST ADDRESS! If you do, I will not
see them and other subscribers will be annoyed. Instead, send
your message to the correct command address:

To subscribe to the list, send a message to:
   <cygwin-subscribe@sourceware.cygnus.com>

To remove your address from the list, send a message to:
   <cygwin-unsubscribe@sourceware.cygnus.com>

Send mail to the following for info and FAQ for this list:
   <cygwin-info@sourceware.cygnus.com>
   <cygwin-faq@sourceware.cygnus.com>

Similar addresses exist for the digest list:
   <cygwin-digest-subscribe@sourceware.cygnus.com>
   <cygwin-digest-unsubscribe@sourceware.cygnus.com>

To get messages 123 through 145 (a maximum of 100 per request), mail:
   <cygwin-get.123_145@sourceware.cygnus.com>

To get an index with subject and author for messages 123-456 , mail:
   <cygwin-index.123_456@sourceware.cygnus.com>

They are always returned as sets of 100, max 2000 per request,
so you'll actually get 100-499.

To receive all messages with the same subject as message 12345,
send an empty message to:
   <cygwin-thread.12345@sourceware.cygnus.com>

The messages do not really need to be empty, but I will ignore
their content. Only the ADDRESS you send to is important.

You can start a subscription for an alternate address,
for example "john@host.domain", just add a hyphen and your
address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word:
<cygwin-subscribe-john=host.domain@sourceware.cygnus.com>

To stop subscription for this address, mail:
<cygwin-unsubscribe-john=host.domain@sourceware.cygnus.com>

In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When
you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.

If despite following these instructions, you do not get the
desired results, please contact my owner at
cygwin-owner@sourceware.cygnus.com. Please be patient, my owner is a
lot slower than I am ;-)

Whenever you have a problem with the list subscription, complaining to
the people *on* the list won't do anything other than make them angry
at you. If you've tried following the instructions, and it didn't
work, you need to follow the instructions more carefully:

  If despite following these instructions, you do not get the desired
  results, please contact my owner at
  cygwin-owner@sourceware.cygnus.com. Please be patient, my owner is a
  lot slower than I am ;-)

The owner happens to do this as part of is job, and as most of you are
aware, he works Monday through Friday, so getting help on the weekend
is going to be tricky. Plus, tomorrow (Monday) is a holiday in this
country, so it may not be until Tuesday before he even reads your
request, assuming you sent him one. You did send him one, right?

Making everyone mad at you will not get you off the list any faster.
Having patience will.

> Who is the moron administration this list?

By the way, the "moron" administering this list is a piece of
software. I'm sorry if you couldn't figure this out by yourself.
Perhaps that's why you're having such a hard time talking to it.

DJ

Dear listpeople,

I wouldn't send this kind of message before trying to unsubscribe.
However I now found the problem why it didn't work. The problem was
that I do not get the messages from the list, I get them transparently
forwarded from another address. Considering the amount of mail I
get each day I deled 95% only by judging of the subject & sender.

I apologize :o)

Hopefully I will manage to get off the list.

I understood that, but I assume there is someone responsible for
the server. Thus responsible for any malfunctioning software.
However I apologize now because I found the problem.

Apparently my rude mail got me some quick help, as for example this email.

Thank you :)

I hope nobody takes this to mean "rude mail gets help". Polite mail
works just as well :-)

I hope nobody takes this to mean "rude mail gets help". Polite mail
works just as well :-)

Hi Fredrik. Someone just dropped me a rather interesting email. For some
reason, they were offended by your comment and plan on dropping you 50
anonymous messages for every one message you bounce to the list. Given
the mail volume of the Cygwin list, I expect you'll have a very full and
corrupt mailbox very soon. I don't know why the individual felt so
completely upset with your tactic, but they did. So I suggest you look a
little closer at what you plan on doing before you actually do it.

There's a lot of people here who might be tempted to do the same thing,
and given how easy it is to build an annon mailer (or even just download
one) you may find yourself in a heap of trouble, or at very minimum your
algonet.se account could end up disabled.

Personally, my ISP and I tend to keep some safeguards against that exact
situation - my mailbox can't be corrupted, and annon stuff is
auto-filtered, along with certain other things. (Oddly enough, the
account radesand@algonet.se is now unable to deliver email to my address.)
Algonet does not.

Hi Fredrik. Someone just dropped me a rather interesting email. For some
