Subject: PLEASE help with V1.0 canonical mode problem
Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 02:31:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20000328103038.WXKI769.mta04.onebox.com@onebox.com> (raw)

Dear Cygnus,

I have written several times in regards to the canonical mode
problem with the V1.0 CD.

Problem synopsys: With Cygwin V1.0, if you run the black "bash"
window with CYGWIN=tty, or if you run xterms from Siddiqi's XFree86
compile, you can't backspace if you run "cat -" or
"dc" or "read" (bash built-in) etc etc.

Cygnus has ACKNOWLEDGED this as a problem with V1.0.

I would *REALLY* like to get a patch for this problem as it is REALLY
annoying and it is the *ONLY* reason why I'm not running V1.0 on
all of my PC's.

I notice that if I use a later snapshot version of cygwin1.dll, the problem
disappears. Is there a snapshot version of cygwin1.dll that Cygnus feels
is pretty stable that I could be using to get around this bug?

Better yet, how about a patched version of cygwin1.dll for V1.0?

Come on, guys, I bought the CD. Aren't you supposed to offer even a
little
support?

Many thanks,
Sorry for the frustration,

Jim Grishaw
