I have another small question that is probably a little stupid, but i'm
not very familiar with GNU development. Where is the source code for
all the Cygwin packages? I've looked all the way through the Cygwin
(winsup) CVS source repository on the web, as well as a lot of the rest
of the Red Hat CVS source repository, and i can't find it anywhere. Are
the packages (e.g. inetutils) even built from CVS by Red Hat? It would
really help a lot in solving problems if i could find source for
everything.

Thanks
Alison (wishing everything was as consistent as BSD)

On the better mirrors, when you get the schedule of packages to be
downloaded via Setup.exe, you have the option of adding source download
for each package. You can also descend the directories at those ftp
sites and find them, but it may be easier to let Setup help. AFAIK, you
must blow away your local record of installation of those packages to
return and get the menu to download the sources. Some of the sources
are identical to standard GNU packages; some are not.

Recent versions of setup.exe have an option for downloading just the
source.

Hi all,

I'd like to get started writing programs for my Palm IIIx. The PRC-Tools
package requites the Cygwin 20.1b version but I have Cygwin v1.3.2
installed. Can the two live on the same system? What is the best way to
set it up?

Thanks,
Steven

P.S. Hopefully since ORBS is gone I can finally post to this list.

Yes, B20 can exist with the current environment, if you make sure that
the 2 cygwin1.dlls are never loaded at the same time. Of course, we
don't recommend this practice and this list discourages questions on
obsolete versions. IIRC, the site hosting PRC-Tools also has some
information on how to use the current Cygwin distribution in conjunction
with them. Investigating this option may be the best in terms of using
a supported environment.

You might have luck with the latest development version of prc-tools,
which is intended to work with the Latest Net Release of Cygwin. It's
at < http://prc-tools.sourceforge.net/ >.

Regards,
David

That URL is just what I needed.

Thanks,
Steven

P.S. Yippeee! I *can* post to this list now.

I've been working on this for a little while off and on, but it's still not
complete on my end. I've been trying to get the Palm-specific apps (namely
m68k-palmos-gcc and such) to work in the Cygwin v1.3.2 environment using
1.3.2's linker, etc. Currently, I'm just trying to get the compile-link
process working.

Have you tried anything, or are you hoping for a quick fix (like I was
originally)?

That's great... but the most recent version of setup.exe scans what you have
installed, rather than what you have downloaded, to build the updated
packages list. I think you said you had fixed this in CVS... so could you do
an update soon?

Thanks,
Max.

Just click on Full/Part and it will show you a complete list.

That's not quite what I meant. I'm using setup 2.57 because of the bug
mentioned above, and previously discussed here. Chris said he had fixed it
in CVS. I'm asking for a new version to be released from CVS to general use.

Max.

I'm not sure where I said it was fixed in CVS and not released. AFAIK, I've
released the most recent CVS version of setup.
