FTPD problem

FTPD problem

I have installed inetutils-1.3.2-14 to my PC (running windows 2000
Profesional) and followed the readme file to set up and start the
inetd as administrator.

After adding a user with the needed rights,  i need to regenerate
/etc/passwd:

        $ mkpasswd -l > /etc/passwd

When I start a ftp session to my localhost the ftpd respond me that
login is incorrect.

Is there anything special I should do with my /etc/paswd ?
at present it looks as follow:

Try restarting the inetd service.

The password given in that entry is never used on NT/W2K. On NT/W2K
only the Windows passwords are used for logon. Try using the Windows
password given when you've created that user.

ftpd problem

I am trying to get inetutils to work with the 1.1.4 release. It's
looking good except for ftpd. When I try to ftp to my NT machine
toralbrecht from the Solaris 2.6 machine copper I get the following:

copper> ftp toralbrecht
Connected to toralbrecht.algorithmics.com.
220- 
220- Wow! I have found the ftp daemon! Let's see...
220- 
220 toralbrecht FTP server (GNU inetutils 1.3.2) ready.
Name (toralbrecht:albrecht): 
331 Password required for albrecht.
Password:
550 Can't set uid.
Login failed.

Telnet with the same user and password works fine. Any ideas?
