I don't know if this will shed any light on the subject.

Under NT4SP6a, MAKE v. 3.7 generates the following message:

      0 [main] sh 260 proc_subproc: Couldn't duplicate my handle<0x90> for
pid 1628033804, Win32 error 6

However, the make completes (the object and exe are built).

Is it because both TASM and TLINK are 16-bit executables, and would
run under NTVDM?

Run it under gdb and debug it.

When I try to assemble my CS project I get an invalid page fault in
kernel32.dll. The .asm is attached. If you want tasm for testing I can loan
you my copy (mail me).

This crash happens 100% of the time.
