Back to my original question. My cygwin is of version 1.3.10. The command dd failed because it does know /dev/fd0. $ dd conv=sync if=install/bin/redboot.bin of=/dev/fd0 dd: opening `/dev/fd0': No such file or directory (instruction from Redboot User Guide) --- Robert Collins wrote: > /dev/fd0 is a device, not a filesystem.
