I think I've fixed the CTRL-C problem that was mentioned here earlier
as well as the procps problem.

I'm building a snapshot now. I built one earlier but then realized that
I had only assumed that my fix for the CTRL-C also fixed procps. It didn't.
So wait for a snapshot that mentions fhandler_process.cc in its ChangeLog if
you want to try this out.

These problems should only manifest in very recent snapshots. 1.5.4
should be unaffected. Unfortunately 1.5.4 is affected by the CTRL-Z
problem, which is very regrettable. I'm contemplating releasing a 1.5.5
which just fixes the CTRL-Z problem and the 'find misses directories'
problem.

FYI.

$ less anything
/test^H^H^H^H

$ LESSCHARSET=ascii
or latin1 doesn't matter.

$ man less
/BACKSPACE
...
BACKSPACE
       Delete the character to the left of the cursor, or cancel the
       command if the command line is empty.
...

BS is obviously considered a NON-editing key...(!?)
sam goes for:
 ^LEFTARROW, ^RIGHTARROW, HOME, END, ^BS, ^DEL, TAB, BACKTAB, ^L
