I guess I must be illiterate or something, cause I can't figure out how
to download GNU GCC. All I want is a Windows 95 C compiler. I can't
seem to figure this out:

If all you want is a win95 C/C++ compiler with none of the unix type tools
then try the Minimalist GNU Win32 (Mingw32) package at (1,2).

Hope this helps,

David

The name you chose is wrong; -lstdc++ will look for a file named
"libstdc++.a", not "stdc++.a". But this is unlikely to work in any case,
since the above library does not come from the gcc2 Cygwin package.
Looks like your version of gcc2 is screwed up.

Please pay particular attention to the part that talks about message
subjects and the part that asks you to attach (as an uncompressed text
attachment) the output of "cygcheck -svr" on your machine.

Hi,,

I am sorry for sending the previous post without any message. It was sent by
mistake.

I am facing a small problem. I have gcc 2.95 installed on my machine. I
cannot download the latest version or any other version of cygwin and gcc
because these are my company requirements. I have to work on this version of
gcc

When I try to compile any cpp file, the linker throws an error "cannot find
-lstdc++".

I tried to search the complete cygwin directory for the library. I could
find "libstdc++.a.2.10.0". I tried to rename this as stdc++.a but failed in
my attempt to get the file linked.

Can anybody help me in this regard ? I shall be really grateful.

I have attached the error message below the mail.

Best regards,
Nitin Mathur,

C:\TEMP>g++ c3.cpp -Wall
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-cygwin/2.95.2-6/../../../../i686-pc-cygwin/bin/ld:
cannot find -lstdc++
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

BTW, you could also need a time service at your machine:

NetTime from http://nettime.sf.net/ "is a simple time synchronization
client for Windows 95/98/NT/2000" and it is free of charge.

This application is not distributed via the Cygwin project site, please
ask the maintainer of the application.

And please *only* use Setup to install Cygwin: http://cygwin.com/.

Where did you download the libpst you have? The message you get
indicates that they have linked their program with *a* cygwin DLL.
However, releases of the cygwin DLLs keep coming like popcorns that it
would be tedious to know which DLL version they did link against. The
best thing for you is to get support from where you downloaded libpst
from. They should provide the binary and source of the dll.

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Carlo

You've sent messages to postmaster now about this problem. Initially,
you seem to have only random success turning off html when sending
messages here. I've told you via postmaster that we don't engage in
doing end user tech support for email clients. That was not an
invitation to send email to the cygwin list begging for off-topic help.

If anyone wants to help, please send personal email to this person.
This is obviously not a cygwin issue.

Two notes about mount:
1) you can use the mixed path format (using forward slashes, '/'), which
   makes quoting easier
2) mount handles dirs with spaces just fine. For example, on my system:

$ mount | grep java
C:\Program Files\IBM\Java13 on /usr/contrib/java type user (textmode)

Hope this helps,

I would be inclined to binary mount it for everyone

mount -s -b c:\\program\ files\\cygwin\\tmp /tmp

If you must stick to a directory path with spaces in it might be better
to use

mount -s -b c:\\PROGRA~1\\cygwin\\tmp /tmp

If c:\program files\cygwin is your cygwin / then

mkdir /tmp

may be an easier choice.

Cheers

/tmp should already point to c:\program files\cygwin\tmp... You can still
use

mount 'c:\program files\cygwin\tmp' /tmp

to enforce it

Hello,

when i start cygwin, the program say's i have to create a folder /tmp (C:\tmp).
Now my question: Can i change the path from this folder to an other path (for
example c:\program files\cygwin\tmp)? What i have to do, to change the path?
Thank you for your help.

Best regards

all.tar.gz is the archive of executables that make up cygwin32. There
is no archive for just the compiler. A number of the utilities that
are in all.tar.gz are available separately.

The all/ subdirectory contains all.tar.gz split up into smaller pieces
to make it easier to download (via modem I suppose). You still need
     all the pieces.

The files in the cdksrc/ directory make up cdksrc.tar.gz archive. It
contains the source code for the Cygnus Developer's Kit which includes
GCC as one of its pieces-parts.

     Hope that helps.
