  To: cygwin

        I set up the passwd & group files in /etc as per the docs.  This
changed the display of file ownership (from ls -la) from 'everyone' to 'none'.
Is this as it should be?

Yes, this is correct, if you are using NTFS file system. The (english spoken)
group `none' is ID 513, this is s.th. like a pseudo group ID, which is used,
if no group ownership is given to the file. It's NT, not cygwin.
