 Hello,

Haven't anyboy thought about making a console window for cygwin/bash.
To be used instead of the cmd.exe in WinNT. The WinNT console is not
very good since it's not very easy to copy text and other things. I
don't know how the console works in Win2000. Maybe that is better.

Just a thought. I hope nobody kills me if this have been discussed
before. I did not search the archive. But I guess this need to be quite
closely developed with bash.

It is not that urgent anymore since you can setup so you can telnet
into the system using som telnet program that works alot better then
telnet under WinNT or the WinNT console.

Just some thoughts from me. I don't mind helping with the development.

Most folks use rxvt or xterm; the 'normal' versions of those utilities
require an Xserver such as EXceed, XWin32, or Suhaib & Co's
*EXERIMENTAL* port of XFree86 4.0. However, there is a native port of
rxvt available at http://www.io.com/~bub/rxvt.html that doesn't require
an XServer.

your request seems somehow obsolete - most (all ?) of the Cygwin utilities are console *applications* anyway. Nobody stops you from calling bash.exe directly without the usage of any cmd.exe/command.com. Bash works just like any another command processor reading commands from the standard input, although it is much more powerful than cmd.exe or command.com. The console *window* itself is a service of the OS. Any changes/replacement of it is definately not within the focus of Cygwin.
