Don't try so hard.
Try 'net helpmsg 53'. It will tell you 'The network path was not found.'
Now onto the next mystery for you to unravel - why is that? ;-)

I still have some problems setting up a ssh-connection to the
machines on our Extranet. While fighting with various dragons
at the same time, this one really drives me nuts:
When invoking "mkpasswd -d" on our Extranet, it returns the
following:
$ mkpasswd -d
Everyone:*:0:0:,S-1-1-0::
SYSTEM:*:18:18:,S-1-5-18::
Administrators:*:544:544:,S-1-5-32-544::
NetUserEnum() failed with error 53.
I have searched all the CYGWIN mailing lists, microsoft.com,
every programming book I found and various (meta) search
engines now, but nothing was there explaining what the return
code 53 means, nore (and this is hurting even more) how I
can make this error go away.
Any help would REALLY be appreciated.
