Of course, including ".exe" excludes symlinks and scripts, so it's far from a fool-proof method, but in many cases it's a useful technique. It works well for libraries (".dll" or ".a"), too. A simple, one-paragraph description of how the search string is interpreted would probably enhance the usefulness of the package content search function of and perhaps lighten the load here.
