What erroneous behaviour, what other utilities?

You need to include your console or terminal log, or a copy and paste of
(*relevant* selections of) the input and output as *text*.
[Graphics screenshots are rarely trimmed of irrelevant surroundings, almost
always too small, seldom enlarged to show input and output clearly, and unless
you use a portrait monitor and/or windows, often do not include enough needed
context.]

You need to demonstrate the problem, showing the commands and outputs, telling
us where your expectations differ from the results, and for files, showing us
details with ls -l or stat, as well as attaching cygcheck.out.

which I have tersely summarized above.
