Also, this has come up before; search the archives for some details.  I
know that the last time this came up I asked some folks here for info,
and a post of their responses is in the archives.  You could perhaps use
that info to start on a patch.  The archives also include some
workarounds.

Hi,

If "ClearType" (font smoothing) is activated, any input within rxvt gets
highly unreadable - at least on my DELL Inspiron 8200 notebook.
Please fix this ugly bug asap, "ClearType" really makes sense for notebooks.

Enable "ClearType":
Right click on Desktop, choose Properties, then select Display, next
Effects.
Change there Font Smoothing... from "Default" to "ClearType".
