But mixing and matching with Cygwin doesn't work well H:\>echo =E2=82=AC | c:\cygwin\bin\od -t x1 0000000 3f 20 0d 0a (the Cygwin process saw the Euro sign as a question mark) but H:\>c:\cygwin\bin\echo =E2=82=AC | c:\cygwin\bin\od -t x1 0000000 e2 82 ac 0a which is the proper UTF-8 encoding of the Euro sign.
