Just noted on my W7-64bit after 2.8.1 and MS Tuesday patches..
on relative small binaries for both architecture
$ ls -su gpa.exe
4.0M gpa.exe
$ uname -svr
CYGWIN_NT-6.1-WOW 2.8.1(0.312/5/3) 2017-07-03 14:06
$ time nm -l gpa.exe
...
real 4m10.636s
user 4m8.524s
sys 0m0.233s
$ uname -svr
CYGWIN_NT-6.1 2.8.1(0.312/5/3) 2017-07-03 14:11
$ time nm -l gpa.exe
...
real 0m0.466s
user 0m0.358s
sys 0m0.093s
anyone seeing the same ?
