If you're on Windows 95 - Make sure that your Temp directory exists, some batch files like to change it back to a Dossy C:\temp, which on many new Windows 95 systems doesn't actually exist. Microsloth decided to move it to C:\windows\temp.

Hello. I have trouble installing the GNU C Kit for Win. I downloaded the
archive (cdk.exe, 14058516 bytes) but when initializing the setup it
quits with "the decompression of %s failed, there might be not enough
free space in TEMP directory" (it's not the space thing, I am having
400 MB's free).

Regards,

 Vladimir Prelovac.

hi,
i am running windows 98 on a dell inspiron 5000 laptop. i run gnu emacs
using cygwin, bash. when i have my ethernet card in i have problems with
cygwin and then of course emacs. when i initiate cygwin with the network
card in, i get an out of environment message. running emacs gives me some
black window thinking time of 5-10 seconds and then runs, and therefore so
does my miktex stuff. if i boot up without the network card in everything
is fine. any suggestions? peter rupert.

Vladimir,

"Mittar Desh" <desh@orp.pdc.com> has also posted this problem. See the
September mail archives at http://www.cygnus.com/ml/gnu-win32 . Sort by
subject and look for Installing CDK.
