Problems with the docbook-tools version of jade

Hi.

I am trying to set up a normal Redhat 6.1 based system which just sort
of works out of the box.

After installing the RPM's downloaded from a sourceware mirror I get

while building with a verison of jade compiled by myself goes without
any trouble.

I have now tried various incantations and other kinds of black magick
for the last few days, and now I would like a hint to what I am doing
wrong here.

_Please_ keep me CC'ed with any response, since now I would really
appreciate getting this up and working.
