Subject: META tag in HTML-files to identify the SGML-source
Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 16:23:00 -0000 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <Pine.LNX.4.33.0106190114230.924-100000@k6.sslug> (raw)

I have a suggestion which several people can use. I
write books (open on the net). People who like to
contribute often read the HTML-files I generate. If
they then want to add to the SGML-files they have to
know the source location - often this is a problem.
Often people have to use grep to find the source-file.
I would like to have the SGML->HTML parser changed a
bit, so we add a new tag in the <HEAD>-section
<META NAME="SGML source" CONTENT="subdir/filesystems.sgml">
if the file subdir/filesystems.sgml was the source of
that particular HTML-file.
Is this a small or big change? Is it possible to do?

So, if anybody wants to have hardware sent to them: don't call me, but
instead write your own unix operating system. It has worked every
time for me. (Linus Torvalds)
