Manish, I would like to be able to help, but I do need clear and concise
information from you.

It appears that you have attempted to install the eCosPro RTOS (version
2.0.102) and are seeing an error when you invoke the eCos Configuration Tool.
Is that correct?

What is the precise error message?

What is the precise version of the eCos Configuration Tool reported in the
"Help -> About" dialog box?

Is this on Windows 7 (as reported in bug 1001175)?

Is it a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

Yes have attempted to install the eCosPro RTOS (version
2.0.102) and are seeing an error when i invoke the eCos Configuration Tool.


"Invalid repository directory" this is the message i am geting when tried to
invoke the tool.

For version please find attached snap shot.

Yes this on Windows 7/ 32 bit.

First, make sure that the eCos Configuration Tool is set up to look for the
repository at C:\cygwin\opt\ecos\ecos-2.0.102 using the "Build -> Repository"
menu item. Note that you should omit the "\packages" directory when specifying
the repository path. Hopefully this will eliminate the "Invalid repository
directory" message.

However, your build of the eCos Configuration Tool precedes the eCos 3.0
release so you may discover other issues when using it with Windows Vista or
Windows 7. I would recommend using the latest snapshot build of the eCos
Configuration Tool instead:

You _might_ also need a more recent Cygwin installation. Details for installing
Cygwin for use with eCos are at:

I am doind the installation in the same way as you were specified and
repository is at C:\cygwin\opt\ecos\ecos-2.0.102\packages but still it is
giving me invalid repository message.

Regarding the version issue i have received the link from eCos for the
downloading and i have downloaded from the same. Can you  will please help me
out for the compatible version of the windows 7.

Have you tried the 110209 snapshot build mentioned in comment #4? The "Help ->
About" dialog box should state:

I got your answer on the configuration tool functioning. But i have only
received the same link for downloading. 
Can you will suggest the better way to get the updated version of the tool.

Hi,

I doing follow up for the above error from last 8 days and i am not getting
proper resolution for this.

I have provided the version that i have received for downloading from eCos.

I am using this on windows 7 and getting error for repository error. I need
proper installation guidelines and the newer version i.e eCos 3.0 for
downloading.

I need it as early as possible get worked.please help me with this.

Manish, I am trying to help you, but your description of the problem and the
steps you have taken to resolve the problem are not clear. If you are looking
for instructions to update your eCos Configuration Tool, try the following
commands at a Cygwin bash prompt:

  cd /opt/ecos/ecos-2.0.102/tools
  cp -pr bin oldbin
  cd bin
  wget
http://mirrors.kernel.org/sources.redhat.com/ecos/anoncvs/ecos-tools-bin-110209.cygwin.tar.bz2
  tar jxf ecos-tools-bin-110209.cygwin.tar.bz2

Does this resolve the problem?

You don't have Cygwin "wget" installed. Download the file using your browser
instead and place it in the following directory:

  C:\cygwin\opt\ecos\ecos-2.0.102\tools\bin

then use the "tar" command as indicated in comment #9.

I gotta a "ridiculous" way to solve this problem. That is
1) I download ecos-2.0 and tar （xjvf) it in the ecos directory. 
2) enter ecos-2.0\tools\bin and call .\configtool.exe
3) finally it works.

The configuration tool works fine, but I gotta some "silly" warnings like:

C:/cygwin/opt/ecos/ecos-3.0/packages/templates/default/v3_0.ect: warning
    Missing version information for package 'CYGPKG_LIBC_STRING'.

and so on.

It seems that the configuration tool from ecos-2.0 invokes the packages in
ecos-3.0.

Is that fine???

I came up a workaround through mostly trial and error.  Cgywin64 downloads
64-bit versions of all libraries and configtool is always 32-bit.  Mixing
libraries gives the error (0xc000007b).  To fix this:

1.  Download the 32-bit version of cygwin, setup-x86.exe and install into clean
directories.

2.  Run setup-x86.exe and follow the instructions to add packages as on the
website (gcc4 is listed as just gcc - don't add win64 anything).  Also add the
libpng12 package not listed on the website.

3.  Download the new configtools at the link "eCos host tools for Cygwin -
120425 snapshot builds" and overwrite the files in
cygwin/opt/ecos/ecos-3.0/tools/bin.

The configtool should come up.  I am also running windows 7 64bit os.  Hope
this helps.

You don't have Cygwin "wget" installed. Download the file using your browser
instead and place it in the following directory:

  C:\cygwin\opt\ecos\ecos-2.0.102\tools\bin

then use the "tar" command as indicated in comment #9.

Manish, I am trying to help you, but your description of the problem and the
steps you have taken to resolve the problem are not clear. If you are looking
for instructions to update your eCos Configuration Tool, try the following
commands at a Cygwin bash prompt:

  cd /opt/ecos/ecos-2.0.102/tools
  cp -pr bin oldbin
  cd bin
  wget

Hi,

I doing follow up for the above error from last 8 days and i am not getting
proper resolution for this.

I have provided the version that i have received for downloading from eCos.

I am using this on windows 7 and getting error for repository error. I need
proper installation guidelines and the newer version i.e eCos 3.0 for
downloading.

I need it as early as possible get worked.please help me with this.

First, make sure that the eCos Configuration Tool is set up to look for the
repository at C:\cygwin\opt\ecos\ecos-2.0.102 using the "Build -> Repository"
menu item. Note that you should omit the "\packages" directory when specifying
the repository path. Hopefully this will eliminate the "Invalid repository
directory" message.

However, your build of the eCos Configuration Tool precedes the eCos 3.0
release so you may discover other issues when using it with Windows Vista or
Windows 7. I would recommend using the latest snapshot build of the eCos
Configuration Tool instead:

You _might_ also need a more recent Cygwin installation. Details for installing
Cygwin for use with eCos are at:
