[ECOS] Installtion problem in eCos

Sir,
   I donot know the root of the problem in installation of eCos on my
computer. It has NTFS and it is virus free. When I try to configure  binutils,
I get the following:

   gcc -o... doesnt work..it asks me to set CC to a working compiler

echo $CC gives nothing  (it is blank)

when I use gcc myself, I can do it, which means cygwin installation should be
ok.

Please advise me what to do.

You shouldn't need to set CC if gcc is meant to work on your system. What
happens when you type:

cd /tmp
echo "int main() { return 0; }" > foo.c
gcc -o foo foo.c
