Look at ftp://ftp.buici.com/pub/ecos/bootstrap , it can help, at least in boot
the target :)

Hi Roman,
Thanks for the info. Without this, I mean with all the info I got at the discuss forum for the past one day, I was able to boot the target with the new config tool and the sources, but lot of associated problems. I am not able to run the tests now. I want to run the tests and also a sample program. I was not able to download the eCos image also.

Any pointers? Or clues....

It does work. But obviously anything about RedBoot doesn't apply to this
release. If there's some reason for you (Nagendra) to 1.3.1, then you
should build GDB stubs and put them on a floppy. Do this by building for
the PC target with the stubs template. The procedure for putting on a
floppy is the same as with RedBoot.

But if you can use anonymous CVS then do. A lot has improved with the PC
target.

eCos 1.3.1 is very old - I'm not even sure there's a properly working
PC HAL included in 1.3.1.

You need to check out the latest CVS sources and get the latest
configuration tool (1.3.1.2 I think it's called).

I was going through the document which you pointed. But there is no directory named 'host' under the main ECOSDIR (the main ecos directory). Am I missing some installation procedure / have I missed some file? or should I download it seperately? Please suggest / comment on this.

PS: I am using configuration tool 1.3.1 and the sources which came with this tool and as already mentioned, I am using cygwin under WindowsNT 4.0

I am a newbie in the eCos world. I started working on eCos a few days back and was able to build eCos for x86 platform. I followed the exact steps that are found on the webpage. But at this stage, the webpage does not provide any help as to how to boot eCos. I am aware that there is a boot program provided by red hat called as redboot. But I am not aware as to how to use the program / make it work for eCos.

Can anyone who has booted an x86 target help me with this?

I am using cygwin tools on windows NT.

I have browsed through the discuss forum and also the redboot user's manual. But was not able to get the above details fairly explained anywhere.

Any examples, website address are welcome.
