You don't have the serial port enabled in the bios on one or both your machines. 2. You're using the wrong serial port compared to what you told gdb. I use /dev/ttyS0 for com1 when connecting to my target. 3. You don't have permission to write to that device on your host machine. -Alex danish iftikhar wrote: > > Hi, > > i have built ecos for i386 pc target . i tried to download the prebuilt test > case ( thread_gdb) through the serial connection from Linux to the i386 kit > booted from floppy according to the documentation. > it established the connection & started downloading but it took an hour to > download this program ( extremely slow) , though the baud rate has been set > at 38400 . moreever during the download it continuously gave this message at > the gdb prompt : > > ignoring package error , continuing .... > > and finally said done. > But when i did "continue " , the same error message came & nothing happened > . > > can anyone tell me , what is happening ? > how do i increase the data transfer rate ? > > regards > danish. > _________________________________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com . > > Share information about yourself, create your own public profile at > http://profiles.msn.com . -- Alex Mathews CrosStor Software, Inc. 908-226-0100 ext 148 alexma@crosstor.com
