You can maybe set up your Windows 98 machine as a proxy to the internet.... There is a tool called "Internet Connection Sharing" that is supplied in Windows 98 Second Edition (or you may be able to download it from Microsoft) which I believe should allow you to access the internet from your Linux box via your Windows machine.
