Hi,

now that I installed the full cygwin, the configtool.exe works fine.
I downloaded the full snapshot of the ecos cvs (ecos-trunk-full.tar.bz2) and when invoking configtool.exe I have to give the repository tree directory, but there are many errors:
The tree is C:\cygwin\ecos

The Error:
"This version does not have any valid version subdirectories"

What could be the problem?

2nd Question: I tried to follow the instructions on http://www.mlbassoc.com/examples building an simple "hello"-appl with commandline tool ecosconfig.exe, but I do not know what the name of my target could be in this line:

% ecosconfig new viper net //viper=target

I have a freescale mpc5516 target.

Thank You

Try following the instructions at http://www.mlbassoc.com/examples

As far as i know, there is no port to a board using the mpc5516. You
can take a look at the cme555 and ec555 which might be similar. You
will also want to take a look at the porting guide:

http://ecos.sourceware.org/docs-latest/ref/hal-porting-guide.html

The problem and fix is described at:

Interesting. Since the public eCos sources does not have support for
the mpc5516 is suspect you need to go get a different version of eCos
from somewhere. Maybe from FreeScale? Maybe from eCosCentric? Where
did you get the Makefile from?

MPC5500 share common peripherals with MAC7100: identical ESCI, simillar
IRQ controller. Perhaps you could start with MAC7100 port and replace
boot loader code and modify IRQ code. Of course you need to replace
compiler from arm to ppc. ESCI driver is written (I hope so) platform
independent.

Actually there has been some efforts to port eCos to MPC5500 but nothing
committed so far.

I had this same problem with the GUI. What worked for me was to go into the
ecos tree root in a bash shell and run the configtool from there, with an &
at the end of the line, instead of using a Windows shortcut.

BTW, Windows IE warns that this page has a security certificate issued by a
different domain.

I just downloaded the binary, it can execute, but the error is the same.
I have the newest cygwin version. Perhaps they changed again anything.

I have to get the configtool running as my makefile compiles a ecos version where there is a no serial driver (only haldiag, and this can't read just write). I would like to configure eCos by my own.

Thank you
