Nobody is going to provide all the changes that have gone into
athttpd into small patches, if anyone steps up to do this work
(code is available at www.ecosforge.net), then there is going to
be one big patch(whatever it contains).

So if many small patches is a requirement, then this is a non-starter.

The current stuff in CVS HEAD is early work-in-progress of athttpd
and currently it is doing eCos and athttpd a disfavour in the eCos
repository.

Antony has emailled me off list and progress is being made.

It should be noted that this is somewhat a special case. I cannot
accept a jumbo patch because of the contribution without an
assignment. If all the code had assignments i would be much more
willing to accept a jumbo patch. So once the patch from Antony is in
place, you could send me a jumbo patch to bring athttpd completely up
to date, if and only if, there have not been any more contributions from
people without assignments.

I don't mind posting a jumbo patch once these issues have been resolved.

Meanwhile I think the athttpd ChangeLog in eCos repository should contain
a warning that this module is out of date and that efforts are underway
to get it up to date from the sourcecode at www.ecosforge.net

Last I heard, it wasn't accepted due to problems with
copyright assignment(some lingering paperwork). I'm
not sure there were any real problems, just a lack
of "someone" to chase down all the nitty gritties.

Breaking all the work done into lots of small patches to
make one patch for each change will not happen I think.

If someone wants to submit a patch and it is accepted,
then that is fine by me, but currently I can't chase this down.

The latest source code is at www.ecosforge.net.

In lieu of somebody stepping up to do the work, it would
be better for athttpd if the outdated copy in the eCos
repository was deleted. Probably better for eCos as well.

Assignments are the problem.

There is one contributor who does not have an assignment. I've been
told that this contributors parts are trivial, so probably don't need
an assignment. However i always receive a jumbo patch containing
everything, not a broken down set of patches indicating who has
contributed what. Hence i have no way to say if the patches really are
trivial or do need an assignment.

If i'm provided a broken down set of patch, it will get committed
within a few days. Until then, there is nothing we can do.

If the code is acceptable (and assignable!) for eCos, why not
just send a patch? It's not that we're not interested, we
just can't do all the work (nor can we take responsibility
for things like the copyright assignments, etc)

The athttpd stuff in CVS HEAD is hopelessly out of date.

I'd like to see it either deleted from the official repository or
brought up to date, I don't care which.

The current CVS HEAD athttpd can only give athttpd undeserved flak.

The problem is of course that nobody steps up to the plate
to do all the work that is required to be able to update
athttpd in the official eCos repository.

The latest athttpd version is at www.ecosforget.net
