Gary,

I did not want you to have to hand hold me so I am hoping there is a set of 
instructions somewhere explaining what to do.  

I need to:

1) Be able to build the current "RAM stub"
2) find the stub program in the build
3) modify the stub program, possibly have an overriding local copy
4) modify .ldi files to set up the MMU for full SRAM
5) do a fresh ecosconfig based on a ROM image in a new directory.
6) write a parsing program to extract code/data only (no symbols) from the 
elf output file so not to occupy so many bytes.
7) have a utility to merge to new loader stub and reformatted, code/data only 
version of the elf file (elf data file) 

I am interested in how you may do this differently and in instructions on how 
to build the "RAM stub".

I will be at the ESC so I will stop by the RedHat booth.

I can help you with these things.  However, I think you'd be best
served by upgrading to use RedBoot instead.

RedBoot is our new embedded debug and bootstrap environment.  Based on
the eCos HAL, it provides all of the functionality you are looking for
and much more.  Even though it is already available via anonCVS, it
will be formally announced [and shown off] at ESC West later this month.

A while back Gary Thomas sent me a GDB stub that set up the MMU to make use of the internal SRAM of the EP7212 since I was using an image loaded to board DRAM.

Can anyone help me with instructions on how to build the stub so I can add functionality to it?

I see that ecos.ecc wants me to build a ROM image with stub or RAM image and use the stub Gary provided for me. From what I can see I can not build the stub based on a RAM image.

The reason I want to create my own stub is that I want to add a boot loader to the stub.  I want my stub to read an image also stored in flash ROM and copy the image to DRAM since DRAM is faster in cases of cache misses.
