Subject: [Bug general/3720] New: frysk.proc.MachineType wrong when 32-on-64
Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2006 16:03:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <20061214160319.3720.cagney@redhat.com> (raw)

The class frysk.proc.MachineType uses frysk.sys.Uname or uname(2) which returns
information on the kernel.

When a 32-bit frysk is run on a 64-bit system, or when frysk is run under an
emulated environment:

   i386 on x86-64 returns x86-64
   i386 on IA-64 returns IA-64?

this information returned isn't useful. What is instead needed is the ISA that
frysk was built for.

One way to obtain this is from frysk.<blah>.Build (should be moved to
frysk.Config), another is to compile it into a .cxx file and extract it from that.
