Yeah, in other projects I found that make dist is only really reliable
if you make sure make distcheck passes. That can at times be a lot of
work though. But if you achieve that and have an autobuilder to make
sure that it keeps being distcheck clean (luckily Kris already set one
up) then it is easy to keep up to date. An it really helps making sure
that the release tar ball you distribute is fully self-contained and
buildable for outside hackers not wanting to rely on cvs.
