Thanks! I can't find the problem offhand (the problem does not show up
under `lynx'), but I did find a problem that might be related, and will
soon commit a patch to fix this, though it'll take until sometime tomorrow
morning before the daemon updates the web pages from the texinfo source for
the gcc docs.

If you are able to identify the string of text at which the strike-through
happens, and could email the surrounding text with a pointer to where
the problem starts, that would help -- me, at least. (My wife's computer
runs Netscape and MSIE, but I can't log in on it.)

Please do see the above FAQ entry and follow the directions to submit a
proper bug report. It is really not that difficult and it is the only way
your bug might get fixed.

Hi. There's a problem with your webpage:
	http://egcs.cygnus.com/onlinedocs/gcc_2.html

With both Netscape 4.51 and MS-IE4, text on this page for the last 1/4 of
the page or so is unreadable and has strikethrough marks over it.

- Mark

A (possibly uninteresting) datapoint -- the page looks fine with my ancient
V3 version of netscape.

I'll go ahead and run the script to update the online docs so that folks can
test and see if Craig's patch fixes this problem.

[Back to egcs-bugs, regarding strange results viewing the gcc_2.html

Wow, well, here's the HTML I get via:

  lynx -dump -source http://egcs.cygnus.com/onlinedocs/gcc_2.html > incoming/gcc_2.html

>Don't recognize builtin functions that do not begin with <SAMP>`__builtin_'</SAMP>
>as prefix. Currently, the functions affected include <CODE>abort</CODE>,
><CODE>abs</CODE>, <CODE>alloca</CODE>, <CODE>cos</CODE>, <CODE>exit</CODE>, <CODE>fabs</CODE>,
><CODE>ffs</CODE>, <CODE>labs</CODE>, <CODE>memcmp</CODE>, <CODE>memcpy</CODE>, <CODE>sin</CODE>,
><CODE>sqrt</CODE>, <CODE>strcmp</CODE>, <CODE>strcpy</CODE>, and <CODE>strlen</CODE>.

I don't see anything wrong with the HTML in that area.

Looks like you've got something wrong on your box somewhere, resulting
in garbage in the incoming HTML file as seen by the two browsers (which
definitely should *not* agree on how to screw up this file, so I don't
blame *both* of them). Though (as always) it *might* conceivably be upstream,
of course.

The only other thing I could see wrong (via weblint) was empty <A> anchors.
Maybe both MSIE and Netscape trip up on those, but they'd both have to
do so in *very* subtle ways to account for the problem you're seeing.

I think I'll email a relative of mine at MS and ask her what she can
make of it. (She works on MSIE.)

        tq vm, (burley)
