can you confirm whether this problem still occurs with gcc 3.3? If it does, it'd be great if you send

This is a dup of bug 7771 which is closed, either use --disable-nls or bootstrap beginning 
with a version of gcc.

I'm running AIX 5.1, maintenance level 4 
C for AIX version 6.0 - using cc

I created an obj dir.  
I cd'd to the obj dir and ran ../gcc-3.3/configure
I then ran gmake (gnu make version 3.8.0)

The error is:

"plural.y", line 264.1: 1506-343 (S) Redeclaration of __gettextlex differs from
previous declaration on line 73 of "plural.y".
"plural.y", line 264.1: 1506-381 (I) The type "const unsigned char**" of
parameter 2 in the prototype declaration is not compatible with the
corresponding parameter type "unsigned char**" in the nonprototype declaration.
gmake[3]: *** [plural.o] Error 1
gmake[3]: Leaving directory `/install/gnu/gccobj/gcc/intl'
gmake[2]: *** [intl.all] Error 1
gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/install/gnu/gccobj/gcc'
gmake[1]: *** [stage1_build] Error 2
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/install/gnu/gccobj/gcc'
gmake: *** [bootstrap] Error 2

It looks to me like the same error as reported.  I was able to perform the step
he mentioned by setting the -qlanglvl=ansi option for the CFLAGS and got the
same error he did.  I wasn't able to perform the last step of making sure
certain the includes were in a certain order.  I'm not sure how to do that.

I did notice during the configure that it said the following:

checking for working autoconf... missing
checking for working automake... missing
checking for working autoheader... missing
checking for working makeinfo... Missing
<snip>

I only mention this because the bug originator mentioned something about
autoconf.  Although I can't provide a patch I can test, on this system, for a while.
